Latest Music Obsession: The National

This is slightly different from my other music-related posts in that I'm sharing an old favorite that I've recently rediscovered. The National is hand's down one of the best bands out there today. They evoke so much emotion with both their music and lyrics and are fantastic live. The video above is a live performance of "About Today," a song off their 2004 Cherry Tree EP. I know it's pretty lengthy at just under 9 minutes, but I promise you it's worth it. If you fall head over heels for them as I did years ago, here are a few of my other favorites: Guest Room and Bloodbuzz Ohio. By the way, this is my 100th post. Yay =D.

  1. OMG 'About Today' is my absolute favorite song by them, I loooove the National. Haha went to their concert in LA and Matt Berninger leaped out into the crowd, it was pretty awesome!

  2. Thanks, Michelle! That show sounds awesome. I saw them at 930 club in D.C. which is a really great venue that's intimate but has high ceilings and some of the feeling of a bigger venue. Anyway, they blew me away.

  4. Congratulations on your 100th post. How exciting!
I LOVE The National. I saw them play a couple of years ago. It was one of the best shows of my life and I had that teenage girlie feeling where I immediately fell into deep love with the lead singer. Who could resist that awesome voice?

  7. Yay! I'm so glad some of you already knew and loved them and that I've been able to introduce a few more people to their awesomeness XD. Thanks for the congrats about the big 100, too!

Robin - I know exactly that feeling haha. I used to get it a lot more at concerts during HS and college but occasionally an amazing singer like him will still steal my heart away for the night :).

Angie - To each her own taste :). I'd love to hear the type of music you like anytime though. Always looking for new good bands. Music is probably the only passion of mine that can match the one for food hehe.
